  Lifesaving and Meritorious Action Awards

The Lifesaving and Meritorious Action Awards recognize registered youth and adults who have performed an attempt to save a life or to recognize notable acts of service that need not involve attempts of rescue or risk to self, but put into practice Scouting skills and/or ideals.

These awards may be awarded to any registered youth member or adult leader.

How to nominate a person for a Lifesaving or Meritorious Action Award:

  1. Complete the Lifesaving and Meritorious Award Application and save as a PDF file.
  2. You may submit the application and requested documents via email, mail, or in person.
    1. Email to  Awards@circletencouncil.org -OR-
    2. Mail to Circle Ten Council, 8605 Harry Hines Blvd., Dallas, TX 75235 -OR-
    3. Deliver in person to the Dallas Scouting Center (8605 Harry Hines Blvd., Dallas, TX 75235) or to the Fairview Scouting Center (5600 US 75 S., Fairview, TX 75069).
  3. Include contact information (name, cell phone number, and email address) for the person submitting the nomination and for the person who should be contacted with any questions, if different from the nominator. 

Process after application submitted to Circle Ten Council:

  1. The application will be forwarded to the Lifesaving and Meritorious Action Award Committee.
  2.  They will contact the nominating person with any questions and to notify them of the award status.
  3. As the committee meets every few months, the process may take several weeks to complete.

Presentation of the award:

There are several options for the award presentation including the Circle Ten Council Recognition Dinner, the awardee’s district dinner, or at a unit Court of Honor. The awardee or nominator will notify Awards@circletencouncil.org how they want to receive award after they have been notified.

 



Honor Medal With Crossed Palms
Has demonstrated unusual heroism and extraordinary skill or resourcefulness in saving or attempting to save life at extreme risk to self.

Honor Medal
Has demonstrated unusual heroism and skill or resourcefulness in saving or attempting to save life at considerable risk to self.

Heroism Award
Has demonstrated heroism and skill in averting serious injury or saving or attempting to save life at minimum risk to self.

Medal of Merit
Has performed an act of service of a rare or exceptional character that reflects an uncommon degree of concern for the well-being of others.

National Certificate of Merit
Has performed a significant act of service that is deserving of special national recognition. 

If the action is deserving of merit, but does not qualify for a national award, the Scout may be eligible for the Circle Ten Council Certificate of Merit.
