Advancement & Awards
Advancement is the means by which Scouts learn the relationship between effort and accomplishment, developing confidence and self-sufficiency along the way. ADVANCEMENT is a key element of the Scouting experience, across all programs and ranks.
Every Scout can earn rank advancement and awards. Advancement is based on individual effort; it is not competitive.
Advancement is governed by BSA National policy, which is contained in the 2025 GUIDE TO ADVANCEMENT. The Guide to Advancement (GTA) is the ONE authoritative source for all advancement volunteers. Parents and Scouts are also welcome to download and read the GTA.
Questions on advancement can be directed to your District Advancement Chair or to Advancement@circletencouncil.org.
