2020 Wildfire and 2021 Fuel Reduction
| In late August 2020, a lightning strike ignited a wildfire just north of the ranger's house and burned 30+ acres up to Johnson Peak. | ![]() |
| Beginning in the Spring of 2021, in partnership with the Texas Forest Service, the burned area and remaining nearby cedars were removed to reduce fuel for potential future fires and prepare the area for restoration into a native prairie. Cedars and Honey Mesquite trees were removed while oaks were kept. |
