Meet Our Course Director
Introducing our Course Director, Chuck Ashby!
Chuck Ashby is an accomplished Scouting leader based in Rowlett, TX, with deep roots in the Circle Ten Council in Dallas, where he currently serves as the Lodge Adviser for Mikanakawa Lodge until January when he passes the torch after three years of dedication. With a long history of service to Scouting, Chuck is also a committee member of Troop 57 in Garland, TX, and an active participant in multiple leadership roles.
Chuck's Scouting journey includes attending Wood Badge in 2014 to now being the Course Director for WB 148! He has been a fixture at National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT), where he has served on staff six times, including twice as Course Director. In 2024, Chuck staffed NAYLE at Philmont as a Course Director in 2025, further solidifying his commitment to youth leadership development. A Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow, Chuck’s dedication to Scouting is reflected in his receipt of the Founders Award and the James E. West Fellowship, as well as his recent recognition with the prestigious Silver Beaver Award in 2024.
Outside of Scouting, Chuck shares a fulfilling life with his wife of 26 years, Freya, and their three children: Colin, an Eagle Scout and Senior Budget Analyst for the City of Prosper; Bryce, an Eagle Scout and Aircraft Maintenance student in Fort Worth; and Julianna, a senior at Oklahoma State University studying International Business and Marketing. Chuck enjoys hiking and cherishes the memories of two unforgettable Philmont treks with his sons.
Chuck’s passion for leadership, youth development, and community service defines not only his Scouting career but also his role as a devoted husband, father, and mentor.
