The purpose of this course is to teach Scouters how to become a BB gun Rangemaster. It is a safety course for adults who are interested in working with Cub Scouts and Webelos Scouts. This four hour course is designed to teach you about air guns, what types of projectiles to use, safety, the fundamentals of shooting and how to set up and safely run a BB gun range for any Cub Scout event for your den, pack, district or council. Click here for the current presentation for use when running a BB gun range , as used by some districts in our council.

Anyone with the NRA Rifle Instructor rating can also teach this course to certify BSA BB gun Rangemasters for their unit and/or district. Click here for the current presentation for the committee's combined BB gun and Archery Rangemaster course. If you have USAA Archery Level I certification also, you can teach the Archery portion of the course to certify adults also.

If you are running a class for a district and would like to open it up for other leaders from other districts to attend, please email us with the information and we can post it on our calendar for you. You can download the above referenced manuals/presentations to use in teaching a class if you are already and NRA Rifle Instructor. Click here for the link to the BSA fillable training cards that can be presented to your students after they pass your class.

This course is required for anyone who plans to run a BB gun shooting activity at a day camp or twilight camp.

Check Black Pug, the council registration site, for classes.
