Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters must complete Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) to be considered position trained. This course equips you to be able to teach the outdoor requirements of the Tenderfoot, Second Class, and First Class ranks as well as general camping knowledge as it relates to the Scouts BSA program.

This course must be taken in-person and includes an overnight component. it is typically offered as either a Friday evening to Saturday evening or Saturday morning to Sunday morning experience.
