Welcome our New Scout Executive, Scotty Landry

It’s truly an honor to be here today as your new Scout Executive and CEO of Circle Ten Council. Standing in front of you—dedicated staff members, volunteers, and champions of Scouting—I feel a deep sense of responsibility, gratitude, and genuine excitement for the journey ahead.

Let me begin with total transparency: I’m new to Scouting.

I don’t come to this role with a lifetime in the program or a sash full of merit badges. But I come with fresh eyes, an open heart, and a deep respect for what Scouting represents. I know that I have a lot to learn—from you, from our Scouts, and from the rich history and traditions of this great movement. And I’m eager to do just that.

I plan to listen first, ask good questions, and rely on your wisdom and experience as I find my place in this council and in the greater Scouting community. This is your legacy, your life’s work—and I am here to help carry it forward, not to change what works, but to support what matters.

What I do bring is over two decades of nonprofit leadership, a passion for youth development, and a firm belief in the mission of preparing young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes. That belief is what drew me here—and it’s what will guide me every step of the way.

I’ve already heard so much about the remarkable work happening in Circle Ten—from the legendary camps to the innovative programs to the quiet, everyday acts of leadership that shape lives. This council has a proud history and a powerful future. And I’m honored to serve alongside you to write its next chapter.

In the coming weeks and months, I’ll be out in the field—meeting units, visiting districts, spending time at our camps, and hearing your stories. I want to understand what makes Circle Ten special, and how I can help support and strengthen our efforts.

Our opportunities are exciting, and our challenges are real. We must continue to adapt to the needs of today’s families, grow membership, and ensure that Scouting is inclusive, accessible, and life-changing for every young person who walks through our doors or sits around our campfires. I don’t have all the answers—but I’m confident that, together, we do.

Thank you for welcoming me into this incredible community. Thank you for the work you’ve done and continue to do. And thank you in advance for your patience, your partnership, and your willingness to help me grow as a Scout Executive.

Let’s move forward—together—with purpose, with humility, and with the same promise we ask of every Scout: to do our best.

Yours in Scouting,

Scotty Landry
