Did you know that we have groups of Scouts that focus on sailing adventures?
Sea Scouts, BSA offers adventure, maritime education, and prepares young people for life. We should never forget the program is fun.
Getting on the water is an awesome way to make new friends and memories that last a lifetime. Who Helps With Recruiting? Every member of a Sea Scout Ship should be ready to explain the value proposition of their Ship. However, peer-to-peer recruiting is just one way of recruiting.
There are many excellent “Welcome Aboard” events a Sea Scout Ship can host. These include:
- Pizza Night: An Open House with prospective Sea Scouts and parents, including time for parents to ask adults about the program and video of past events.
- Welcome Aboard Day: An Open House with planned activities, such as sailing, boatswain’s chair, rowing a whaleboat, and concluding with a barbecue.
- Day Cruise: Plan an Open House where the boat is taken out. Make sure all the prospective Sea Scouts have an opportunity to steer the boat.
