Supplemental Training

You have taken the required Youth Protection Training and have completed your Postition-Specific Training and are now considered "Trained". What comes next?

The following course areas are designed to help Scouts and/or Scouters with a particular skill or enhance their Scouting role. Please see brief descriptions below.

Aquatics

The Circle Ten Council aquatics committee works year-round to provide aquatics training for both adults and youth. Part of their responsibilities is to help provide and promote a broad array of swimming and boating activities to support all parts of the Scouting Program. COPE & Climbing

E-Learning
There are many online trainings available that cover a variety of topics, including wellness, weather hazards (required for any unit outing) and some basic online trainings in water safety and climbing. You may take all E-Learning trainings by clicking here.

Outdoor Skills Training Courses
Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) - This one day course is designed as an introduction to the Cub Scout outdoor program for those leaders who are interested in adding a camping component to their Pack activities. Completion of this course is mandatory for at least one adult on a Pack overnighter.

Outdoor Leader Skills for Webelos Leaders (OWL) - This course is designed to help Webelos leaders enhance the outdoor program for the Webelos Scouts in their den by teaching some basic outdoor skills as well as skilleds needed to complete many of the Webelos activity badges.

Both of these courses are offered throughout the year by each district. Please contact your district training staff or district executive for a schedule or look on CampMaster.

Train-The-Trainer Courses
The Trainer's EDGE is the required train-the-trainer course for Wood Badge and NYLT staffs. The purpose of the course is to provide and help develop the platform skills of a trainer. Only practice can polish these skills, but this course focuses on training behaviors and resources while offering hands-on experience in methods and media. This course is open to both youth and adults.

University of Scouting
The University of Scouting is an adult leader's learning adventure! It is an action-packed, fun-filled single day of supplemental training where you choose the sessions you wish to take. Sessions are led by experienced volunteers and professionals who will help you enhance your ability to deliver a fun and exciting program to the Scouts.
